You never know how powerful your words can be. Here are two statements making me happy today.
The first is from Rabbi Ari Kahn, and I’m so touched given that his Torah was part of what helped me a lot as a teenager.
The second is from a reader who happened to email me today to say:
i have been reading every single thing youve written on your blogs since 15-16 years ago
when you were a confused teenager [actually you weren't but some adults thought you were]
i contacted my cousin in chicago who attested to your sanity and legitimacy and i have celebrated silently your growth ever since
what i have always liked about your writing is the clarity and originality
you dont need me to tell you that you dont feel constrained by other people's expectations
Sometimes I feel like
… Two am, and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer
Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
'Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to-”Breathe” by Anna Nalick
So it’s nice to know that somewhere out there someone is reading, and maybe even benefiting. I like knowing I’m not writing into a void.
You are definitely not writing into a void! Many read your posts and witness your growth as a writer and effective educator.
